Vanja Prahić & Barbara Toma – Digital subscription as the present and future of media business
Vanja is Head of Digital Subscriptions at the leading Croatian news site 24sata. During the college years Vanja started working at Hrvatski Telekom gathering invaluable experience. He finished college at Faculty of Political Science of Zagreb University, with a masters degree in journalism. After that he started working at 24sata as a Community Manager, then left to spend a wonderful year as the Head of Social Media at 404 digital agency.
By the end of 2020 he returned to 24sata where he is now working to change the media industry and introduce something never seen in Croatian mainstream media landscape – digital subscriptions. This is a big challenge and you will have the pleasure to hear everything about it.
Barbara Toma is head of the social media team in Večernji list, one of the largest media publishers in Croatia. She has a bachelor’s degree in digital marketing from University College Algebra.
If you asked her 5 years ago, is social media her future, she would say definitely no! She first came to the company as a young woman with no carrier goals, but that changed quickly. After only two years of being a social media administrator, she became head of social media. Now she manages more than 10 business social media profiles of Večernji list.
Her biggest passion is content and how to present it to the audience she manages. Her other love is advertising and all the possibilities of it. Social media channels of the Večernji list have grown in the last five years more than they can imagine. Every audience needs another strategy and that is the main goal they aim for. To present themselves to the audience on Facebook, Instagram, Youtube or TikTok is challenging but also very fun.
